Disability Benefits for Seizure Disorder

Seizure disorder is recognized by the Social Security Administration as a debilitating condition. However, there are specific requirements that must be met by the claimant in order to receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

At Levine Law, LLC, I represent clients who are seeking SSDI/SSI benefits for seizure disorder, epilepsy and neurological conditions. To learn if your condition qualifies for disability benefits, contact a New Jersey seizure lawyer to schedule a free consultation.

Understanding the Requirements for Seizure Disorder

An individual must meet certain requirements to be eligible for SSDI or SSI benefits for seizure disorder or epilepsy:

  • A certain number of seizures or episodes must have occurred within a certain amount of time
  • The seizures or episodes must keep occurring despite complying with a treatment plan/taking prescribed medications

The Social Security Administration will also consider the frequency of seizures, the type of seizure (grand mal vs. petit mal, etc.), when the seizures occur (day vs. night), the physical effects of the seizure (Does the seizure cause unconsciousness or sensory loss? Does loss of bowel/bladder function occur?), and other factors. I am familiar with all of the Social Security Administration's requirements for seizure disorder. I can help you determine if you meet these requirements and what medical documentation is necessary to prove your disability.

Some companies that assist people with Social Security Disability issues use nonlawyers whose fees are the same as a lawyer's. At Levine Law, LLC, you will always work with a lawyer.
