New Jersey residents with chronic diseases should not lose hope

Living with a chronic disease can be incredibly dispiriting. Symptoms that linger day after day, week after week, can create a sense of despair in even the strongest-willed individual in New Jersey. Or, for chronic illnesses that have periods of flare-up and remission, waiting for the next bout with the disease can feel much like being positioned under the Sword of Damocles. When the illness interferes with a person's ability to make a living, it adds the stress of potential financial disaster to an already untenable situation.

People living with chronic disease should not despair, however. Just as there are medical professionals ready and able to help with the symptoms of the illness, there are legal professionals who may be able to help ease the financial burden. Applying for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits may allow a person with a disabling illness to feel a bit more secure as far as income goes.

As we have previously stated, our firm's experience is in presenting not only a strong evidentiary case to the Social Security Administration (SSA), but also to allow the individual's story to be heard. With the combination of hard medical evidence and the transformation of a paper application into an actual person in the mind of an adjudicator, an SSDI or SSI application has a better chance of being approved. One thing just about all people have in common is the experience of being sick, and those making decisions on disability applications are no different.

The use of both objective medical evidence and the weaving of a truthful, sympathetic storyline can be key to allowing a person living with chronic disease to receive needed benefits. There is hope for those who need Social Security Disability for their illnesses. For more information, please see our website.
